National Applicant Screening is one of the nation’s leading providers of services for drug testing in the workplace. Our innovative approach means our clients receive extraordinary customer service, cutting-edge technology, and the best pricing available. Screens can be used for pre-employment, random and post-accident programs. Workplace drug testing is serious business, often regulated by governmental agencies. Through our years of experience we’ve become experts in this field, and our expertise translates into drug-testing solutions for you. We have the knowledge, the experience and the ability … and we can help you. When conducting workplace drug testing for your company, why not use the best!

At NAS, we only use the highest forensic quality drug testing available through Urinalysis.   The Urinalysis testing meets all federal and state requirements through a NIDA certified lab. All screened positives are automatically confirmed through Gas Chromatography/ Mass Spectrometry) and verified by our MRO (Medical Review Officer) who is a medical doctor and an expert in the substance abuse field. Any positive samples are stored for one year for litigation purposes. Of course expert testimony in any litigation is also available. We also supply instant drug test kits for various drug panels.

We will identify convenient local testing sites for applicants. Our technology enables us to report results more quickly, enabling you to make informed decisions faster. Results are made available via a secure Web site, with leading-edge capabilities, or can be delivered to a dedicated computer fax. Using any one of these reporting options, you will receive negative test results within 24 to 48 hours from the time the sample is shipped. Drug test results will be archived along with other pre-employment screening results, so a complete pre-employment file is available for each applicant in a single, easy to access location.

Companies that implement efficient drug-free workplace programs typically will:

  • Hire better employees
  • Experience less employee turnover
  • Realize higher productivity
  • Reduce employee absenteeism/lost time
  • Improve employee safety
  • Enjoy better compliance with regulatory agencies
  • Earn credit on workers’ compensation premiums
  • Decrease workers’ compensation claims
  • Reduce the number of approved claims because positive test results can prove a “causal relationship” between the claim and the drug and/or alcohol

When a company has contracted with a governmental agency, a drug-free workplace may be a requirement of doing business.

    Types of Drug Testing

    Drug Screen—DOT

A DOT drug screen tests a specimen for five drugs—opiates, PCP, amphetamines/
methamphetamines, marijuana and cocaine. A DOT-approved chain-of-custody form is used during the collection process, and a split sample is collected and both specimens are forwarded to the laboratory for testing. Once the laboratory completes the testing process, the results are forwarded to the Medical Review Officer (MRO) for review. Following the MRO’s review, results are reported to the designated reporting agency.

    Drug Screen—Non-DOT

A non-DOT drug screen can test for the same range of drugs as the 5-panel DOT screen—opiates, PCP, amphetamines/methamphetamines, marijuana and cocaine. It can be expanded into a 10-panel drug screen by testing for the above five drugs and adding barbiturates, benzodiazepines, methadone, methaqualone and propoxyphene. A urine alcohol (ethyl) screen can be added to either panel if desired. Negative results are posted in 1-2 days.

Urinalysis is the testing of a donor’s urine specimen for the presence of illicit substances (drugs, drug metabolites) and/or alcohol, if expressly included in the test panel. A test panel is a specific list of substances to be tested for. The most common employment drug test panels are listed below. Additional custom panels can be quoted upon request. Common employment drug test panel add-ons include MDMA (Ecstasy), Expanded Opiates (Hydrocodone, Oxycodone), and Alcohol.
